Route de Napoleon

We stayed overnight in Grenoble and left early to Nice, but before arriving, our country roads route took the Napoleon route that he used when he returned from his first exile to try to take the throne of France once more.  I took a lot of photos to reveal the geography and small towns and villages of this route.  Sit back and enjoy!

Elevated train track - there are a lot of these up here.

Friendly cows who came to visit when we went to the fence.

Sedimentary rocks which were pushed up by the same activity that created the Alps.

See the flyfisherman?

The Citadel from about the 13th or 14th Century

Look at how these outcroppings are standing up!

More sedimentary layers

We eventually found more villages as we neared Nice.
